LABOUR INT 2, the CEEP-ETUC project on Labour Market Integration of Third Country Nationals in the EU, co-financed by the European Commission’s DG Home in 2018, has now reached its second year of implementation.
While several raising-awareness activities were conducted last year at the European level, concrete pilot actions are being implemented in Italy, Greece, and Austria, and follow-up actions in Germany, Belgium, and Italy.
Among the EU-level activities, the first meeting of the Expert Group on Skills and Migration is planned to take place in Brussels on Friday 14 February 2020, during which the International and European Forum on Migration Research (FIERI) will present the strategy developed so far for the Evaluation Testing of the EC Skills Profile Tool for Third-country Nationals and which is used in Austria and Greece.
At the national level, the Italian pilot action became a self-standing project (LABOUR INT MiiT), which already helped more than 40 refugees and asylum-seekers to find employment into the Italian society since its launch in 2018. In Germany, project partner DGB Bildungswerk is organising an international conference on “Arriving at the Workplace – Labour Market Integration in Germany” on September 3, 2020 in Berlin, Germany. DGB and its LABOUR INT 2 partners will explore how labour market integration of refugees and new immigrants succeed in Germany, thanks to an international stakeholders’ gathering.
The objective of the conference is to bring together representatives from the German economy, trade unions, employers, administrations, civil society, chambers of commerce and political world with those from European partner organizations of the Labour INT 2 project, both as speakers and participants. Collectively, we will present successful examples from Germany and determine the criteria for success, which may be relevant for a possible European transfer.
An invitation with a detailed program and the identities of invited speakers will follow soon. Meanwhile, should you wish to receive more information regarding the LABOUR INT 2 project, do not hesitate to contact CEEP Project Manager Carlotta Astori.
