“LOCAL ENTERPRISES STEPPING UP: FROM GLOBAL CRISIS TO NEW OPPORTUNITIES”

On the 27th of October 2009, CEEP held its 12th annual conference of Local Enterprises, titled ‘Local Enterprises Stepping Up: From Global Crisis to New Opportunities’. This year local enterprises gathered to discuss the effects of the global crisis on their businesses and most importantly to look for solutions.

The plenary sessions aimed at answering three provocative questions, which ensured lively and interesting discussions:

> Local enterprises: providing stability in economic turmoil?

> Communication strategies for local enterprises – are we investing enough?

> Treaty of Lisbon – better balanced solutions for local enterprises?

The parallel workshops focused on questions of the investment in water infrastructures, security of energy supply and the implementation of the regulation on public passenger transport services, all of which are relevant for the providers of local services of general interest even in times of crisis.
